1. Service requests
In order to receive a social work service, a person or his or her legal representative shall turn to the Social Service of Riga and submit documents in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No. 138, Regulations regarding the Receiving of Social Services.

An application in the official language and other documents may also be submitted to the Social Service by a secure electronic signature or by mail (the application must be signed in hand).

2. Receipt of services
After receiving all the documents, a decision regarding the granting/refusal of the social nature service is taken within 10 working days.
The social service applicant shall be informed of the decision taken.
The social work service shall be provided in the Social Service of Riga, the institution of the social service provider and the customer's place of residence.
Social worker:
1) contribute to the development of the capacity to address personal, interpersonal and social problems;
2) support the possibilities for the development of a person, as well as the right to take decisions independently and to implement them;
3) attract socio-economic resources and the relevant social services to address the social problems of a person or group of persons;
4) provide information regarding social service providers and establish contacts between recipients and providers of social services.
