Allowance for the provision of guaranteed minimum income (GMI)

1. Service requests
The allowance for the provision of guaranteed minimum income (GMI) is aid to a household the last of which
the average income of three months is less than EUR 109 for the first or only person in the household and EUR 76 for other persons in the household per month.
The amount of GMI per month for the first or only person in the household is EUR 109, for other persons
EUR 76 per household.
The person shall turn to Riga Social Service, present a personal identification document and:
1. Submit a written submission, which by signing, adult persons shall give permission to the Riga Social Service to use the information available in the local government and State data registers regarding themselves and family members.
2. Submit income and material resources supporting documents for themselves and households
for members and complete a declaration of means of subsistence.

also via email: soc@riga.lv.
The declaration of means of subsistence may also be completed electronically by means of the Latvija.lv e-service portal
“Application for the submission of a declaration of means of subsistence to the Social Service of Riga”.

2. Receipt of services
The allowance is paid by transferring it to the current account indicated by the person or the allowance may be received in cash in the Riga Social Service (in the specified days of the benefit), if the person has indicated such type of payment in the submission.
Cash payment of the allowance takes place in Souru Street 31/2, Riga. The social work professional shall inform the person separately of the date and time of the payment of the allowance, as the dates and time of the payment of the benefit vary each month.
