Allowance for a foster family

1. Service requests
The Social Service of Riga provides social guarantees for a child who is temporarily placed in a foster family, in conformity with his or her needs, granting a allowance for the child's nutrition in a foster family, an allowance for the purchase of clothing and soft inventory for a child, as well as an additional remuneration for the foster family for fulfilling his or her duties.
The allowance for the nutritional of a child for each child in a foster family per month shall be determined in the amount of 75% of the minimum wage specified in the Republic of Latvia. The amount of the local government's remuneration for the fulfilment of the duties of a foster family shall be EUR 215 per month. The amount of the allowance for the purchase of clothing and soft equipment in the calendar year for a child under the age of six years (inclusive) shall be EUR 200. The amount of the allowance for the purchase of clothing and soft equipment in the calendar year for a child aged between seven and 18 shall be EUR 250.
The person shall turn to Riga Social Service and present a personal identification document and submit:
1. an application with a request for the maintenance of a child placed in a benefit foster family, the purchase of a benefit clothing and soft inventory and the granting of the local government remuneration for the fulfilment of the duties of a foster family;
2. A copy of the Riga Orphan's Court's decision regarding the placement of a specific child in a foster family.
In order to receive this support, it is necessary to turn to Riga Social Service, Church Street 19/23, 1 st floor, 110 th office, Tel. 67105044.
An application in the official language and other documents may be sent by post (the application must be signed manually), by signing with a secure electronic signature or by using an e-address.

2. Receipt of services
The allowance shall be paid by transfer to the account indicated by the person.
